Scope for higher studies and potential employers for aeronautical engineering
What is the scope for higher studies in aeronautical engineering? And can I work on the aircraft after completing the BTECH (Aero) Programme?
While still doing graduation the aero students can apply for GATE so as to study further in MTECH in various IIT’s. Students could also prepare for GRE and TOEFL if they are willing to go on with their master’s programmes in Aeronautical engineering in Universities abroad. Getting a higher and better qualification would only help you in getting a better placement in particular industry/academics.
As to your other query, you can definitely wok on an aircraft but only after you get selected to join IAF/IN as a commissioned officer, where you will be trained on the aircraft as a part of your training before you actually gets hands on deck. As far as BTECH students are concerned, they should prepare for DGCA examinations. As soon as you clear this examination you are awarded a license in a particular stream of aircraft maintenance. It just improves your chances and future growth in the airline field.
If I have done my graduation in aeronautical engineering, which major companies or industries can I join?
With the increase in development in the aviation industry there are various opportunities for aerospace/aeronautical engineers. There is always a surge in the airline industry for new airplanes with better, bigger and more economical aspects. The amount of investment that has been put in space research in India is increasing at a rapid rate ensuring that the employment potential is also increasing exponentially. Aeronautical engineers can work in the field of aviation, space exploration and defence systems. Most of the jobs available are with airlines like Air India, Indian Airlines, Helicopter Corporation of India and flying clubs, private airlines and government owned air service Hindustan Aeronautics ltd (HAL), National
Aeronautics lag (NAL), Indian space research organisation (ISRO) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). These are the major industries and research centres that have a huge brand and value attached to it. In today’s time most of the jobs apart from the conventional ones are in the field of management and analysis.
An aeronautical engineering graduate can also join various private manufacturing companies like Taneja Aerospace & Aviation ltd. (TAAL), UTC Aerospace Systems, SYSFOL Enterprises
