- Smoking is definitely injurious to health. Smoking causes a number of ill-effects to the individual and to the surrounding environment as well. Though we can give a number of reasons to stop government from promoting cigarettes and smoking, still a sudden complete ban can in turn cause many severe withdrawal symptoms difficult to handle, causing severe health issues in many.
To give a stand in favour of banning smoking, the first and the foremost remains the health concern. Smoking not only affects the health of the person who smokes, but it also results in passive smoking for all those who are forced to inhale the cigarette smoke. the smoke also adds on to the environmental air pollution bit by bit. Cigarettes and similar products are made of tobacco which acts as mood relaxants. But, this in turn is addiction forming and has its effect on the psychological aspect of the individual.
Coming on to the points against banning smoking is the abrupt withdrawal symptoms in the person who is addicted to smoking. Any addiction can be left only by the will power of the individual with gradual tapering doses of the same stimulant. With the sudden ban, such a procedure wouldn’t be possible and the individual will definitely look forward to illegal trafficking of the same.
Though we give ample notes in favour and against smoking, but our Government will never take any strong measure to avoid this health concerning product, as it is the major source of revenue for the economy of our country. Still, on the humanity perspective, though not a sudden ban, we definitely require some strict and stringent measures to help people out of this addiction and avoid coming generations to fall into the same pit.
