Should telecommuting be allowed?
Should telecommuting be allowed?
Have you ever heard the word telecommuting? Whenever a company allows its employees to work from the home and not from the office, it is called telecommuting. In the fast changing world, many companies have started opting for telecommuting. It can offer convenience to the employees as well as the employers, and at times can become a reason for organizational problems. Telecommuting can be permanent or temporary depending upon the company. The question here is should all the companies start following the culture of telecommuting?
Yes
• Employees can deliver quality work by working from home as compared to the work delivered by their in-office counterparts.
• What matters most are the skills and abilities of a person, and not the location where they complete the projects?
• Telecommuting allows the employees to have more flexibility in terms of handling their professional and personal work.
• The companies can save a lot of money being spent on the things like office furniture, space or equipment costs.
• Telecommuting leaves the employees with more time to work on the important projects. They can devote more time to the urgent projects.
No
• All the employees are not same, and therefore the same concept cannot be made available for everyone. Yes for one employee and no for the other employee can create the organizational problems.
• Telecommuting concept allows the person to work alone and therefore, there is no one to guide or monitor the employee.
• Telecommuting might seem a good idea at first instance from the personal front but in the long-term it can create bigger problems in family life.
• The work done from home carries its own set of risks. There is no security of the sensitive information or the important data of office.
• Telecommuting can raise the problem of collaboration in the important projects, and impact it adversely.
Conclusion
In the tech-savvy world where people have facilities like internet and cloud management system at home, telecommuting seems a practical idea. But it cannot be judged as feasible option from one aspect. There are many other aspects attached to it that signifies that still it cannot prove successful on practical grounds. Exceptions are there, but that necessarily doesn’t makes telecommuting has the best concept for everyone.

- No Official work only used in office it it should not link to home .Home environment is only for living with family .Work at home can distract and reduce employ performance and for security reason its is not safe .Just one leak of code and data can suffer company huge loss.So telercommuting is not allowed

- Telecommuting is a good option available today. But this cannot hold good for all sorts of profiles. There are many a places where the presence of the employees become a necessity to carry on with the work process. Every office space require some staff to be present in order to entertain the potential customers and clients visiting the area for the personal interaction. This cannot be done at home or elsewhere, as that losses its professional importance.
For those profiles which can be accomplished by telecommuting, again it has its own pros and cons. The same needs to have a trust factor involved both for the employer and the employee. Both need to have a mere understanding of the terms and conditions, and without the personal interaction, it becomes a high gambling to start on with the work process for both the employer and employee.
With respect to the task to be completed, the telecommuting definitely provides the time convenience factor, still the same becomes a matter of concern on a long run. On majority cases and occasions it becomes highly challenging to balance the job and the home. The office environment provides a better atmosphere to concentrate on the target, rather than the home.
With a lot many factors to be analysed, it would be wise not to get telecommuting a mandatory process. Instead that can be an option for the employer and the employee to opt as per their convenience.
