Should young leaders be given more importance in the new cabinet?

The euphoria of the elections is over and focus has shifted to the selection of the new cabinet. The real test of Narendra Modi will start from the selection of cabinet. He has to assign the important roles in such a balanced way that the disparity seen during the election time doesn’t surface again. At this point of time, the question is back again, Should the young leaders be selected instead of the old elites?

Yes

• It is a changing world where young blood is moving ahead in every field. The selection of the new cabinet should be done on individual merits with respect to the different profiles.

• Most of the voters supporting BJP are young and are looking forward to see the young energetic people in the cabinet that can really make a change in the present political system.

• There is a need of better governance and that can be established with the new blood that are not following any old and outdated ideology.

• Modi’s development agenda is based on very high aspirations and people are expecting to see a turnaround that is not possible with the rigid form of government.

• The top most things on Modi’s agenda is to develop the job market and if its own government cannot give the space to young, it will be contradictory to its agenda priorities.

No

• India is a democratic country where the Gerontocrats have every right to be in the system till the time they want. Saying them to leave the system in it is the demeaning of democracy.

• Talent does not belong to the young. Old people got the place in the system because they were talented. Getting old doesn’t snatch away the talent.

• Mature politicians have already seen the tough phase in the last few years and have the perspective to bring the change.

• Nothing can match with the experience of the old politicians. They have made a place in the system by hard work and talent.

• Narendra Modi cannot be also termed as the young blood. It is his thoughts and unmatched skills that differentiate him. That his why he won the battle from Rahul Gandhi.

Conclusion

It is the start of the new government with the new cabinet shuffle. However, Narendra Modi has to act smart to handle the arguments and differences arising out of the situation. The idea is clear. It is not about the old or young. Simply it is about who is the best and have the potential to bring a change in the governance.

  • A cabinet is place which is of immense importance to any country. The members of the cabinet should be talented and well aware of the national and international priorities. The talent never depends on any age criteria.

Talent is an inborn ability of a person and hard-work and honesty are the acquired abilities which is required the most for the governing body of a nation. These things doesn’t get changed with age, gender, caste or any other criteria. That’s the reason the age factor plays the least role in establishing democracy.

Young leaders definitely have a different approach and resolution for the burning issues. But we cannot forget the importance of experienced mind in analysing and implementing any law in the country, so as to preserve the safety, security and harmony in the country.

India requires transformation and amendments of the years old laws and traditions. This would call up on many hindrances and agitations from different sects of people. The young burning blood can help break through these traditions and the experienced mind can help to pave smooth approach for the implementation in the country.

Thus a combined cabinet comprising of both young as well as experienced minds would be an appropriate resolution.
