With IT replacing middle level management, software jobs are more lucrative than MBAs
The trend keeps changing, there was a time when MBA jobs were considered to be more attractive and payable jobs then IT and today the trend has changed more and more individuals are opting for software jobs.
For:
- IT jobs are technical jobs and hence require an analytical frame of mind which is required not only for management jobs but also for IT jobs as well
- The starting remuneration attached to an IT job for a fresher is more attractive and hence more and more individuals are inspired to get into the IT field
- In-spite of recession hovering over the job market, IT is one field which did not go down in-spite of the recession, the number of layoffs are less and there is job security as well involved
- IT jobs also include opportunities abroad which is one of the most important component which attracts most of the people
Against:
- IT being a technical field, does not involve much of managerial responsibilities, hence IT field is not much preferred by people who are looking for roles in which they are able to manage a team under them
- Usually the IT field has a flat organizational structure and it takes time for an individual to have promotions as fast as an MBA individual can climb up the ladder of management as well as the designation
- It jobs involve a lot of late night duties as well, which is not acceptable by all
- Travelling is also involved to a great extent
Conclusion:
- Both the fields have their own advantages and disadvantages attached to it. Ultimately it is the interest of the individual that makes him choose his line and field of job.

- Software job is more lucrative because this is only job that wil get you to chance of abroad and the other benefit is that you wil work around 1 or 2 square Feet that means U have to work in your cubical but in MBA job you have to traveled for your organization promotion and if u dont have meet your target you will be fire after 2 to three warning and every time you think about how to sell but in Software u dont feel this type of problem regarding the target and Software MNC gives Higher package that attract the student

- In software jobs we can improve our knowledge and also technical skill. This job is a relaxable job as compare to MBA .the only destination is that to complete our own work no tension about the other peoples and the important benefit about this job is that the working area is only 1 sq ft .

- IT jobs has one more disadvantage. It is volatile, means if there is boon then there is very lucrative packages for the employees which definately attracts more candidates to join. but if the boon is short lived then what will happen to those employees who wish to join here? same is the case going on in it sector.Since i am an software engineer i can tell that mba is much better than software job.

Software Jobs are more lucrative than MBAs
Software professionals have analytical skills which is good for management jobs as well so IT professionals have choice to move to management job any time in his career but it’s not same for an MBA.
Software professionals have opportunity to work abroad so; their job is more lucrative and growth is also better then MBAs. MBAs can’t get exposure and benefits of working abroad easily.
An IT professional can’t perform like a MBA manager. He possess much more intellectual skills as well as experience to handle their clients more efficiently. In the fields other than IT like banking or other financial sectors MBA are highly needed. An IT professional can’t perform like a financial analyst.
In software job also a MBA is preferred. This is because as one makes progress in the IT field, managerial roles increase. One have to manage people working under him which is better served if the project head or the project manager is MBA.
So in my opinion, MBA and software both having their advantages it depends on situation, what kind of opportunity we are getting.
