Sportperson and Indian Army Lt Colonel Sudhakar Jayant has just wo the gold at the IWF World Master's Weightlifting Championship in Copenhagen at Demark. Jayant also won the gold medal at the previous 2 championships held in Italy and Ukraine.

This is a great achievement for the champion weightlifter. Jayant has clinched the gold medal for the third time now. The 45 year old Indian sportsman triumphed over his counterparts in a match that left few in doubt about who was the winner.

The 45 year old Army man and Indian sportsperson competed in the 62 kilogram weight category. Jayant lifted around a total of 185 kgs. For the snatch, he managed to handle around 85 kgs. In the clean and jerk, Jayant put in his best efforts to lift weights of around a stunning 100 kgs. The silver medal for this championship was won by Huuskonen Jari from Finland who lifted a total of 170 kgs. French weightlifter Frederic Robert who lifted 145 kgs snared the bronze medal.

Jayant won the championship last year in Turin as well. At the championships held in Italy, Jayant won the gold medal after having lifted 192 kgs. The lift of 87 kg in snatch was also known as the record for the particular championship as well. The lift occurred at his second attempt.

The year before that, the championships were held at Ukraine. At the 2012 game, Jayant lifted his way to the gold medal as well. At the present championship in Copenhagen, over 600 weightlifters who were 35+participated in the game. The game commenced in August and it is set to conclude soon.

As an athlete who is also part of the Indian Army and a graduate of the prestigious IIT, Jayant has created scores of records while he was studying. Following this selection in the army, Jayant got back to the game in September 2010 and has been working hard since them.

Jayant qualified for the National Championship in the year 2011. The year after that, he won the gold medal at the championship held in Lviv at Ukraine. He won the gold medal here in the 56 kgs category with a snatch of 75 kgs and a clean and jerk of 95 kgs.

Sports can only be pursued if motivation and discipline are high on one's agenda. Army has a long tradition of providing some of the most talented and skilled sportspersons in the country.

Now Sudhakar Jayant can be added to the list as well. Sportpersons in India are talented but they do need support to excel. With constant backing, India sportspersons have the talent to succeed in the international arena.
