The money being put in cricket is harming the other sports

Although hockey is our national sport, yet cricket is considered to be the most prevalent and treasured sport in India.

For:

- The importance that cricket holds in India, that importance none of the sports are able to gain and hold in our country. Hence sponsors are ready to invest their amount in cricket but not in other sports and so it is difficult to find sponsors for the other sports
- Due to laxity of funds, the courts and the grounds of other sports do not have proper infrastructure and are not maintained the way they should be
- The players of other sports are not paid well and hence it is difficult to retain players in other sports and are gradually loosing importance
- Because of huge and attractive compensations are involved, most of the youngsters are driven to join cricket and a very few people are left to join other sports
- Because of lack of funds the other sports committees are unable to hire good and capable coaches to train and hence we are incompetent to win games in Olympics and other contestants
- The other sports committees are unable to even buy proper sports equipment’s as well or the sports-person

Against:

- Every sports committee has been allotted with a fixed amount for their use, it’s the committees responsibility to use the funds intelligently
- It is the committee’s accountability to attract more individuals into other sports by hiring better coaches as well as maintaining better infrastructure
- If they are able to attract more people and make a space in the hearts of the people, they will easily be able to attract sponsors.

Conclusion:

- It’s a fact that cricket has attracted all the money due to which other sports are being harmed but cricket is not solely responsible for it.
