Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has won the Rogers Cup beating second seeded Roger Federer in a 7-5 7-6(3) for the fourth straight victory over the Swiss sensation. Tsonga is a 13 seeded player and he battled top players Djokovic as well as Murray and Dimitrov to win the first ATP Tour title of the season and the 11th on the whole.

He beat the top seeded Novak as well as eight and seventh seeds during the course of the tournament. Tsonga improved to the 5-11 level against Federer . Roger Federer dropped to 2-5 in finals. The Swiss player had to face Tsonga's powerful serve and impressive ground strokes.

Tsonga secured a 4-3 lead in the second set along with a double break point and Federer responded with 2 straight points to settle for a deuce. Tsonga then secured 2 more break point chances which Federer saved and held with an ace.

For the tiebreaker, Tsonga picked up a mini-break at 4-3 and secured the next 3 points to clinch the title. For the doubles final, Bruno Soares and Alexander Peya fended off Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Meloof in a 6-4 6-3 win. 17 Grand Slam title winner Federer could not match the Frenchman shot for shot. Federer congratulated Tsonga on his victory and said it was well deserved. Tsonga went on to say if one believes in something, it can be accomplished. The Frenchman clinched his second ATP masters 1000 title.

With this win, Tsonga accomplished a great deal having fended off top seeded players to secure a victory. The sheer talent and determination of the Frenchman guided him to his impressive win. For Federer, this was a match that had its share of challenges. The Swiss player will look to upcoming tournaments to move on to more than his current record of 17 Grand Slam wins .
