Various position in Banking and role of IBPS
What are the positions offered in the banking services and how can I apply for them?
Once a year, in the month of September/October, The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) holds the Common Written Examination (CWE) for Regional Rural Banks (RRB’s).
Common written Examination is conducted online for the recruitment of Group-“A” officers (Scale-I, II & III) and Group-“B” Office Assistants (Multipurpose).
Any eligible candidate who wishes to appear for the CWE has to apply for the IBPS. Candidates who appear for the examination and are shortlisted are subsequently called for the Common interview.
Can I apply for both the positions specified?
Yes, a candidate can apply for both the posts i.e. Office assistance as well as officer. However, a candidate can apply for only one post in officer’s cadre i.e. for officer scale-I or scale-II or scale-III. For each post a candidate has to apply separately and pay the fees separately.
What is the role of IBPS and who approves the system of Common Examination?
IBPS stands for The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, which is an autonomous body, registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 and a Public Trust under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950.
IBPS has the authorization to conduct the Common Written Examination for the participating RRB’s. With the coordination of IBPS, the participating banks conduct the Common interviews.
It should be noted that IBPS does not take any guaranty of recruitment. It is just a test-conducting agency. Each participating RRB will carry out the final recruitment individually. This system of Common Examination is approved by the Government of India, notified by NABARD and has the mandate of each of the RRB’s.
