Armed forces are that part of the Defence services that provides excellent career opportunities along with immense facilities and a privileged lifestyle. Professionals working in the armed forces on one hand are required to safeguard our territories against external aggression and on the other hand have to assist the civil administration against internal security issues and in maintenance of law and order. Aspirants in this field can enter either into the fighting forces i.e. armoured corps, artillery, signals, engineering and the infantry or in the support services i.e. electronics and mechanical engineering, ordinance and medical corps, intelligence and education. Recruitment in armed forces is through permanent commission (UPSC) or short service commission. Eligibility requirements for different positions and ranks differ according to the course and the college or institute the aspirant is entering into.
