What do I need to do to pursue a course in Physiotherapy?

I am a science student in 10+2 with an average score of marks. I have a flair for physical activities and sports; I am pretty much built up kind of guy for these activities. However, I am also good with Biology and the subject draws my attention equally. MBBS is just not my thing so I am thinking about pursuing a career in Physiotherapy but do not really know where to begin with it.

A flair for sports combined with some biology and human anatomy is exactly what it takes to be a physiotherapist. You are following the right track and you must begin early as this is the time where it would make a difference according to what you choose ahead. You must go for a bachelor’s in physiotherapy right after 10+2 instead of waiting for a diploma course later. It will give you a privilege over the later and you will have better chances of landing with a good job after graduation. It is a 4 and a half years program including the 6 months of internship. You can land up at job after graduation or opt for a master’s degree in physiotherapy. It will enhance your chances of making it to the list of the highly demanded physiotherapists in India. Physiotherapists are highly in demand in India as more and more people turn to this alternate method for therapeutic purposes. Doctors recommend the needful patients of orthopaedic, neurological and paediatric cases to see a physiotherapist after treatments.

You can apply in the following institutes for a bachelor’s in physiotherapy:

• School of Physiotherapy, SSG Hospital

• Apollo College of Physiotherapy

• Indian Institute of Health Education & Research

• Amar Jyoti Institute of Physiotherapy

• National Institute of Health Education & Research

• National Institute of Physiotherapy & Communication Disorders
