What work does an Automobile Engineer do?

The most important task of an Automobile engineer is the designing, assembling, making layouts, performance, strength, capability, expenditure, manufacturing and testing of vehicles. They are involved at each step right from when a rough model is prepared to the point of supply. An automobile engineer is expected to understand the concepts of engine systems, electronics and control systems, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, supply chain management etc. you should also be well versed with mechanisms of vehicle chassis, combustion engine, electrical systems, workshop technology, design and research and so on.

Automobile engineers are categorised into 3 broad sections.They are:
1. Product or Design Engineers: Those who deal with designing and testing of automobiles and its parts. They design and test each part of the machine and make sure that it is fit in all testing parameters and durable to use for years to come.

2. Development Engineers: those involved in linking one system in an automobile to another are development engineers. They contribute to complete development of an automobile machine. They are also responsible for the delivery of the engineering components used in the automobile as ordered by an automobile manufacturer or the client. They also provide an estimate budget of production of automobile to the product engineer.

3. Manufacturing Engineers: They deal with creation and assembling of the whole parts of the automobile. They are responsible for manufacture and production of automobiles keeping in in mind the safety and control measures.

They also carry out they designing and manufacturing of the new models and also launch improved versions of old models. In a nut shell they are responsible for maintaining high standard of vehicles by incorporating innovations using the traditional methodologies with latest technologies.
