What does it take to be an Insurance Surveyor?
What are the credentials required to become an Insurance surveyor. I am a student of 12th Commerce and would like to determine my further studies on this basis. Please guide me on what it takes to be an Insurance Surveyor.
Insurance risk surveyors in India are anticipated to have been or currently working towards the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Advanced Diploma (ACII). Qualifications are offered at Certificate (Cert CII), Diploma (Dip CII) and Advanced Diploma (ACII) level and are organized in a modular structure to help candidates in choosing the most applicable modules and study at their own tempo.
If you opt to undertake the CII Advanced Diploma in Insurance, you can apply for associated membership of the CII (ACII). It is a three years course with options for studying like distance education and part time course. It is becoming gradually more universal for employers to also request National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) qualifications. The qualification meets the academic requirements to apply for Graduate Membership (Grad IOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and provides a sound basis for progression to MSc level.
You can also take the International Diploma in Risk Management offered by the Institute of Risk Management (IRM). This can prove to be mainly useful for headway to risk management posts and provides the opportunity to become a full member of the IRM. Other trainings are done on the job through in-house training programs, mentor support, distance learning and some external training. Best of luck!
