The Contingency theory focuses on the belief the managers dont have any specific way in which they can lead towards the accomplishment of the goals. As per the situations, Managers require different leadership styles to tackle them. The style that works in one environment may not work in another. The theory is based on 3 elements viz., task structure, leader / member relations & positioning power.
