What is Animal Husbandry?
Animal Husbandry refers to the science of breeding and subsequent caring of animals. It is a branch of livestock farming and deals with many aspects of humans and animals. These animals are mainly used for milk and meat products and mainly include, cows, buffaloes, sheep, goats, chickens, pig/pork, horses and cattle. It covers, proper breeding, watering and feeding of the animals. It also looks after maintenance of proper hygiene in their surroundings. Birthing the animals is also a part of animal husbandry, for example helping a cow deliver her calf and weaning a calf from his mother.
A specialist in Animal Husbandry decides if the animal is ready, proper and safe for sale or slaughtering. They also deal with medications, timely vaccinations, herding and branding of the animals.
