What is Film Making?
The process of making a film is called Film Making. It is also known as film production. A film can be a feature film, documentary, promotional film, TV commercial, music videos etc. It is a creative field career which requires blend with technicality. The process of making a film includes number of stepls from development of the idea and script, hiring casts and choosing shooting location, shooting the film, editing, screening and distributing to the audience which is called film release.
What are steps involved in making a film?
Film making or film production typically involves five major stage:
• Development stage: The foremost stage involves writing the script through generation of idea, by books/plays, true story, another film etc. Once the script is finalized it is presented to the potential financer who will invest the funds. Contract is made between parties for the same. And this completes the development stage.
• Pre-shooting stage: The film is pre-visualized by the producer and budget is drawn according to which the preparations are made for hiring of the casts, film crew, building of shooting sets, choosing the location of set and other preparation for shoot.
• Shooting stage: Production stage involving shooting the film. The film is recorded in the this stage. The actors, film crew members, directors, producer work on the pre-conceived of the shooting.
• Editing stage: The film recorded during the shooting stage is edited in this stage. Editing is done by video or film editor. The shot film requires editing in the dialogues, music, sound, visual effects. All sound and the visual effects are mixed with shot film which completes editing stage.
• Film release: After the editing the finished film is distributed and screened in cinema, home entertainment or to the consumer media which is called film release. Generally a film is released with launch party, press releases, interviews with the press, press preview screenings, and film festival screenings.
