What is primary and secondary packaging? Illustrate with an example.

Primary packaging is the first package which is in direct contact with the contents eg. A tablet packed inside a small case . Secondary package is used outside the primary packaging and is used to group the similar products together. Eg. 10 pieces of the tablets may be packed in 10small cases and then finally put inside a big carton or box to group and sell the ten cases of tablets together in one set. Primary packaging may be in the form of containers,syringes, strips etc. while secondary packaging may take the form of paper and boards, cartons,corrugated fibers,boxes etc.
