- Analyse the soil to increase the crop yield
- Assess soil pollution caused by chemical fertilizers and industrial waste
- Develop technologies and prescribe measures to recycle these wastes into productive soil
- Use technologies to increase the production of biomass
- Develop inter-relationships with plant nutrition, its growth and the quality of environment
- Suggest proper use of fertilisers
