What is the career path to becoming a successful Securities Trader? I am in XII Commerce and would like to know if the undergraduate course and the subject combinations there need to be decided accordingly. Please guide me.

Yes, it is a good idea to begin early if you have set your goal. You need to do your Bachelor's program in business Studies or financing or accounting or economics. After graduation, an MBA program is recommended to enter the world of securities trading. You can opt for a major in macroeconomic analysis, investment theory, business forecasting and data mining, mergers and acquisitions, security analysis and international finance. Meanwhile, you must look for internship programs in different securities firm. Next to job experience, you will need to be licensed. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), securities traders are required to be registered as a representative of their respective firms with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Continuing education is an obligation for maintaining a license and certification. The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute is a professional organization that offers the CFA designation. To become a CFA, a candidate must take a self-study course equivalent to a graduate program. Candidates take a series of three examinations that must be passed sequentially.

These are the degrees that you will have to secure; however, there are skills that you must possess to be a successful securities trader. Critical thinking, persuasion ability, social discernment, inventiveness, detail-oriented, decision-making skills, mathematical skills and good communication skills along with computer knowledge are essentials in this field.
