What is the difference between Electrical and Electronics Engineering?
I am looking forward to doing BTech but really confused if I should go for electrical engineering or electronics engineering. What is the difference between Electrical and Electronics Engineering?
Electrical engineering by and large deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Electronics engineering is the field where non-linear and active electrical components such as electron tubes, and semiconductor devices, especially transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, are employed to design electronic circuits, devices and systems. In Electrical Engineering you will be taught about the utilization or application of flow of electrons whereas in Electronics Engineering you will get to study utilization or application of flow of charge. Electronics Engineering is one of the Field or branch of Electrical Engineering.
Electrical engineering includes electrical machinery, problems of generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, electrical controls in factories, motors and their control and transformers. It deals with providing electrical power to customers. Electronics engineering works with semiconductor devices such as Diodes, Bipolar Junction Transistors, Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors and their interconnections on a printed circuit board as well as in the form of integrated circuits. In takes in Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, Power Electronics, Microelectronics, Computer Networking, Consumer Electronics and Embedded Systems.
