A student of science who has studied or is presently studying Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, along with Mathematics at their 10+2 level is welcome to the new and innovative branch of science. After school, you can opt for BSc, BE or BTech in Biotechnology from various institutes across the nation. It is a 3 years course for BSc while it is 4 years for the students of BE and BTech.
Eligibility criterion for Undergraduate Courses
Eligibility criterion for biotechnology varies in different colleges. The cut-off marks for some colleges are 55% in the combination of physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics while in other colleges it is 505 aggregate
To pursue most of the undergraduate courses in biotechnology you are required to sit for common engineering entrance exams:
• The Joint Entrance Examination for IITs (IITJEE) if you are seeking admission to various IITs.
• All-India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) if you are seeking admission to various National Institutes of Technology or regional engineering colleges.
Some of the institutes conduct their own entrance tests for admission into the fields of biotechnology. You simply need to pass out their test to secure a seat.
