They set up, test and adjust the instruments for recording sessions and live performances. Tearing down equipment after the completion of the event is also their task.
Regulation of volume level and sound quality during recording sessions using control consoles. Selection and set up of microphones before recording sessions are also done by audio engineers. Mixing and editing voices, music and taped sound effects for live performances.

Synchronizing and equalizing pre-recorded dialogue, music and sound effects with visual action of motion pictures or TV productions, using control consoles is their day to day to work.
An audio engineer should have a good ear for music and sound just as a journalist has a nose for news. Audio engineer is an exciting job but at the same time it’s strenuous too. Audio engineers are people who are responsible for manipulation of sound. They are the ones who are responsible for the final piece we hear in the background scores in videos, films and advertisements.
