What is the minimum requirement to become a Securities Analyst?


The eligibility for entering this field is MBA. It is also open to students who have a bachelor’s /master’s degree and experience in the financial services industry or statistical research. You can join as an intern or a trainee if you have done your graduation and has a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or economics or if you have got a post graduate degree in commerce. There is no mandatory training programme that you can do as an analyst, but it often required that you should earn a degree in MBA. You should also have a basic understanding and thorough knowledge of subjects like engineering, biotechnology, pharmacy, etc in addition to subjects like accountancy, economics and statistics to give you an upper edge in this field. This gives you a better understanding of those subjects which can help you in making investment decisions in these sectors.

As an analyst you should have computer, analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills. The job of an analyst requires them to explain their findings and recommendations to others and thus, should have excellent presentation skills, self-confidence, maturity as well as the ability to work alone. An analyst should also possess skills like strong attention to detail, a drive for research, an understanding of tax laws, money markets and economy in general. With all these skills, you should also have PR skills and salesmanship.
