When can I take my first step towards becoming a professional photographer?


I am a 10+2 student in Commerce stream. I want to take up Photography as a career. I am really passionate about photography and capturing reality into reels. I have no real interests in commerce or any other subject. When can I take my first step towards becoming a professional photographer? Please guide me on the courses I should do.

Photography offers a wide range of opportunities and fields that you can begin with. You can be a Press Photographer or Photo Journalist, Fashion Photographer, Portrait Photographer, Industrial Photographer, Wildlife Photographer, Scientific Photography, Feature Photographer, Forensic Photographers, etc. Freelancing is also one of the ways to begin with photography. Your creativity plays an important role in this field of profession along with technical knowledge. Creativity as you mentioned that you have it in you is an advantage that can lead you to pursue your dream career. For technical perfections, there are courses that you can do. You can start right after you finish 10+2 or you can take up photography after your graduation in any subject. Many institutes offer certificate and diploma courses in photography. Some also offer it as three year integrated courses and subsidiary subjects.
