Microbiologists are scientists whose work involves:
- The study of microbes and organisms that cannot be seen with our eyes.
- Interaction of microbes with the environment.
- Finding the reason behind how they cause disease and affect the health of plants, humans and other animals.
- Helping others to prevent and control infections.
- Develop tests to diagnose infectious diseases.
- Various ways by which the microorganisms can be exploited.
A microbiologist works in various sectors like agriculture, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and the environment but majority of their work is carried out in hospitals.
