Will I be questioned about my service preference (IAF or IAS) at the time of interview?
Will I be questioned about my service preference (IAF or IAS) at the time of interview?
I have mentioned IPS as the choice of service and not mentioned IAF or IAS at all. Is this going to be a drawback at the time of selection? Will I be questioned about my service preference at the time of interview? If I am asked about this, what should my answer be?
Choice of service is entirely based on your personal preference and there is no rule to be followed regarding mentioning of first and second service choice. If your aptitude and abilities are declined towards IPS, then there is no reason why you should mention other alternatives to escape questions. What matters is your own understanding about your choice and being confident about your reasons for preference. Being dedicated towards your goal is a good thing and there is absolutely no problem if you have not mentioned IAS or IAF in your service choice.
If you face questions in interview regarding your choice of service, your answer should be exactly what you think about the particular service you would like to opt for. Question yourself and let your thought process answer you the list of reasons that made you select IPS. Be honest while you make your list and accordingly pick out the positive aspects enhancing them in the best manner during your preparations. Never talk about the negative aspects that led you to choose the particular option. Even those service options that you have not mentioned should be talked about in a positive way, showing respect for those services as well. Show your passion for the choice you made and at the same time mention that you find the other options equally opportune but would like to go with your desired goal.
You might want to mention the motivations behind your choice of IPS. Be frank about your motives and what entices you to this field of service. Never say that you do not consider yourself good enough for the other services. You might consider being honest about your family commitments and responsibilities that led you to choose a particular field but also mention that you have equal respect for the other services as well. Good luck!
