TATA AutoComp Systems has just formed a joint venture with Mexican firm Katcon Global for selling exhaust and emission after treatment systems in India. The JV constitutes a 50:50 partnership between both the companies. The Economic Times has reported that Joint Venture between the two companies will be based in Pune, Maharashtra.

The company's JV will aim at designing and delivery of innovative exhaust systems and emission after-treatment solutions for the Indian automotive sector, a statement released by TATA AutoComp Systems said. “This partnership with Katcon will expand our portfolio to now bring the latest in exhaust and emission after treatment solutions to the Indian automotive industry," Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd MD & CEO Ajay Tandon said in a statement to ET.

The JV will be covering exhaust solutions for passenger cars as well as utility vehicles and medium as well as heavy commercial vehicles apart from buses, farm tractors and off-road vehicles, according to a statement issued by the company.

According to the company, the JV will offer catalytic converters as well as mufflers, silencer modules, selective catalytic reduction and diesel particulate filters. "Through this JV we will be offering our customers exhaust systems and emission after treatment solutions that are designed to meet Euro 5 and Euro 6 norms," Tata AutoComp Systems President, COO & CTO Arvind Goel said in a statement to Business Standard.

Katcon Global CEO Carlos Turner had the following comments on the JV: "The combination of Katcon's expertise in exhaust systems and emission after-treatment and Tata AutoComp's knowledge of the Indian market provides both companies an opportunity for growth and serve the emerging needs of the Indian automotive industry.”

The product offerings of this JV will include solutions for hot end as well as cold end of the exhaust systems in the automotive industry. These solutions will be designed to meet Euro 5 and 6 norms/standards.
