ATM for providing water


Non -profit group Vandana Organization has started a unique ATM which provides water for Rs. 1 per liter in Mumbai. The “AQUATUM”, a water vending machine, started in Mumbai can vend up to 1000 liters of water a day. The vending machine has been set up at Mankhurd where there are water contamination problems.

World Meteorological Day observed


The world meteorological day was observed on 23rd March across the World to celebrate the creation of World Meteorological Organization in 1950. The theme of this year’s day was –“Weather and climate: engaging youth”.

Largest TV in the world


Big Hoss, the world’s largest TV made by Panasonic was unveiled in USA. The screen of the TV is 218 feet wide by 94.6 feet tall with 20633.33 squares feet of HD LED lights. It is laso been recorded as the World’s biggest TV in Guinness book of world record.

Committee on Credit information submits its report to RBI


Committee to recommend Data Format for Furnishing of Credit Information to Credit Information Companies (CICs) headed by Aditya Puri of HDFC has submitted its report to RBI. As per the main recommendations of the report, the customers must be given a free copy of their credit profiles to help promote financial discipline among loan appliers. It also said that CICs should have a common classification of credit so that the credit rating of any individual is easier to understand.

M-Pesa to start interbank money transfer


Mobile Commerce Solutions limited (MCSL) a remittance provider with M-Pesa, has started a pan India inter bank money transfer service after collaborating with the Immediate Payment Service of National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). With this, a m-pesa user can send money to any IMPS-enabled bank using NPCI’s remittance platform. IMPS is a remittance service provider under the NPCI and is considered as one of the latest technology in account to account remittance and mobile payment space.
