Lockheed Martin Makes It Simple: Buys Systems Made Simple To Access Health Technology Solutions

Defence contractor Lockheed Martin has indicated that it will purchase privately held company Systems Made Simple. The latter is a health information technology solutions provider. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but they were said to be immaterial to Lockheed Martin. Lockheed CEO Marillyn Hewson indicated that the acquisition of Systems Made Simple was "a natural extension of our health IT portfolio, and will enable us to deliver a broader portfolio of capabilities to meet our healthcare customers' current and future needs.”

Systems Made Simple is based in Syracuse, NY and it works with the Department of Veteran Affairs for the management of health data analytics as well as data centre operation and health data management along with health system interoperability. The US defence contractor has agreed to acquire Systems Made Simple for providing solutions in new spheres.

Subject to the customary closing conditions, the closure of the acquisition is expected to be attained within 30 days. Although the terms of agreement were not disclosed, once the transaction is complete, the company will make reports through Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems and Global Solutions business area.

“Technology is rapidly transforming the healthcare landscape in the United States, and is critical to reducing costs and improving patient care,” Lockheed Martin Chairman, President and CEO Marillyn Hewson was quoted as saying and she added “Systems Made Simple’s capabilities in engineering health technology solutions are a natural extension of our existing health IT portfolio, and will enable us to deliver a broader portfolio of capabilities to meet our healthcare customers’ current and future needs.”

The soon to be acquired Systems Made Simple delivers health technology and service solutions for the improvement of secure exchange and interoperability of information between payers, providers and patients. The company is operating in the fastest growing section of the US federal IT Budget and it was also selected for special contracts that support the IT modernisation efforts of the Department of Veteran Affairs.

“Lockheed Martin and Systems Made Simple share a common technology vision and a common commitment to our nation’s veterans,” Al Nardslico, Systems Made Simple Chairman and President was quoted as saying and he also added “We are proud to bring our collective experience to deliver more robust healthcare solutions to the men and women who have served our great country.”
