Explain Purchase return register Purchase Return Register is the register or book in which the transactions relating to goods returned to the suppliers are recorded. It is also known as Purchase outward book or Purchase return day book. When goods are returned to the supplier a debit note is issued by the businessman, which is an intimation to the supplier that the amount is being debited to his account. The ruling of this book and the entries made are absolutely same as Purchase day book. The total of purchase returns is credited to purchase return account, goods being sent out and the account of suppliers to whom goods are returned are debited, as they receive goods.
