LAN (Local Area Network)
is located within a building or campus. It is a computer network that interconnects computers within a limited area.
- WAN (Wide Area Network) extends over a large geographical distance. Business, education and government entities use wide area networks for transferring the data among students, clients, buyers from various geographical locations.
- VAN (Virtual Area Network) acts as an intermediary between business partners that share their proprietary data via business processes. VAN is also known as Value-added network.
- MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) is a computer network larger than a local area network.
