The key light is the first and the most important form of lighting. It is used to highlight the form of the subject. The light determines the overall lighting design of the shot. Fill light is used to decrease the contrast of a scene. The fill light shines and focus on the subject but from a side angle. Back light shines or focus on the subject from behind. Usually, in films, back lights are of a lower intensity. In movie theaters, back lights of a higher intensity are used.
