Explanation

Printing is a process which reproduces texts and images. Screen printing is a process wherein a sharp edged image is produced using a porous fabric and a stencil. This technique was started in the early 19th century and gained importance during the World War I. The screen is usually made of the porous and a finely woven fabric such as silk or nylon. It is the most versatile form of printing. The three elements of screen printing are the screen, ink and the squeegee. Electrostatic printing is done without the help of any plate or ink. The paper is coated with zinc oxide. It acts as an insulator in the dark and is a good conductor of electricity when exposed to light. Electrostatic printers are used for short run printing. Embossing is also known as relief printing. It allows the transfer of images and texts onto various substrates including paper, cardboard etc. It deepens the look of the products. The process is similar to the usage of stamp and ink pad. Flexography is a major printing technique and is used to print the packaging materials. It is used to print on a number of materials such as folding cartons, sacks, plastic bags etc.
