As an agricultural economist what all am I expected to do?
Agriculture Economics is the business or the management part of the agriculture. As an agricultural economist you will have to monitor food production, and will have to make policies to maximize productivity with minimum investment and maximum profit. It involves management of land, crops, livestock, soil content, raw material irrigation techniques etc.
Agricultural Economists are expected to apply their business concepts and problem solving techniques to manage farms and agricultural resources. They also forecast market trends for farm products. They keep a close check on the changing trends and predict the reason for such changes and improvise strategies according to the market’s demand.
They also observe crops, prices, equipment, imports and exports, weather cycles, new methods of production and also health of farm animals. They are also responsible for making deals with the farmers or the industries that require farm products.
