What are internal user accounts in
Oracle?
There are a few predefined accounts set by the System in
Oracle. Oracle 10g XE comes with a number of internal
accounts:
SYSTEM This is the user account that you log
in with to perform all administrative functions except for starting
up and shutting down the database. This account is created
automatically when you install the server with its password being
the one entered during the installation.
SYS This account is automatically created
during the server installation. Its password is what is
specified during the installation. All base tables and views for
the database data dictionary are stored in the SYS schema. Due to
which it is risky to log in as user SYS as it gives rise to a
possibility of damaging the important data objects.
CTXSYS This account is a special user account
used by the Oracle Text product.
