Party line is more important in public utterances rather than individual views
Rahul Gandhi, Vice President of the congress committee has recently stated even though every individual will have his own view, but in public they have to be in line with the party.
For:
- Speaking in one tone will lead to positive politics
- This will also help in maintaining the party ideology
- By staying transparent in the public forum, it will help them increase their party base amongst the Voters
- It would also build trust amongst the voters
Against:
- The party leaders will not be able to convey their individual views
- This could also go against the party and damage its acceptability among the party leaders
- It will be prone to restriction of a lot of views and it also controverts with the essence of democracy
- The party leaders are often poised with difficult situations that are argued in the media on a daily basis, and it will be practically impossible for the leaders to answer each and every question truthfully and being in line with the party
- Unless the leaders do not hold an effective and convincing position in debates and press conferences, they will not be able to mould the public opinion
- This will lead to immature leadership, in-spite of the party being transparent
Conclusion:
- It is upon the intelligence of the leader to choose where he should be transparent and where he should be able to answer diplomatically to have a successful leadership. Binding people into party line views will be a loss to the party’s image.
