Motivation is the spark, fire, fuel that encourages for action. Most of us know
how to improve our life but what is missing - Motivation. If you are motivated,
life becomes more meaningful and fruitful, you work harder for your goals.
A motivated person not only reaps the benefit himself but motivates others too,
so it is contagious.
There are many ways to get motivated but actually it comes from self belief
system. Every one of us is motivated either positively or negatively.
De-motivation leads to complacency which is the biggest enemy and hurdle to
success.
Tools to stay motivated
Success motivates us
Remember success motivates us and they say "Success breeds success". We always
crave for big success and ignore all small successes that we achieve frequently
during our regular course of daily life. Even a small success can be a stepping
stone for a greater one. If we start counting those small but worthwhile events
we will surely get charged up - What an easy way to keep us motivated.
Self-talk or auto-suggestion
Self-talk is one of tool that most of the sports people use to stay calm and
focused. It is an auto-suggestion to mind in the present tense repeatedly and
regularly. Most of us might have experienced the fact that whenever we prepare
our mind to wake us up early morning before sleeping, the mind acts exactly as
required and wakes us on time. This is nothing but auto-suggestion that our
sub-conscious mind carry even when conscious mind is sleeping. Similarly if we
feed our mind with positive thoughts, it will always give you positive vibes
and thus help to stay motivated.
Environment
If you ask me if I can motivate you, my answer will be No. I can only give you
tips and create an environment that will motivate you.
De-associate yourself from negative influence as we all are impressionable and
negative impression also acts like a fire on us. Always maintain closeness with
motivated people in order to have positive spark.
Self belief system
Inner motivation or self belief system is inner gratification that is nothing to
do with success or winning but comes from the fulfillment of having done it. It
is the biggest motivator.
We need to inculcate the belief that our action is responsible for luck and the
world doesn't owe anything. Most often when we face uphill task and obstacles
in life, we resign our self to some astrologers, self-proclaim gods, palmists
etc. for better luck and future. This further aggravates the problem and eats
up our time and money.
It takes both rain and sunshine to create rainbow. Get your belief system right
and you see every thing improves.
Run your own race
Don't ever compare yourself with others - It is an effective way to de-motivate
yourself. Despite your enthusiasm, you will lose your energy when you compare
yourself with others. Don’t let that happen to you.
Comparing yourself with others is like comparing the performance of a swimmer
with a runner. They are different so how can you compare one with the other?
The only competitor you have is yourself. The only one you need to beat is you.
Take one more step
Most of us quit the battle field when confronted with hurdles. But this is where
you can see the difference between winners and losers. Though both of them face
the same difficulties, there is one thing that makes the winners different: the
courage to continue. During any adverse situation, we need to focus on taking
the next step.
